USTC 818-316ers' 10th Year Reunion (11/28/96)

Thanksgiving-1996 was unique to the USTC 818-316ers (who lived in Lady Dormitory Rm. 316). We, Chen, Yan (with Lin, Hong and their son George), He, Yongjie (with Zhu, Hao and their daughter Jessica), Kang, Fan (with Tao, Li), Mo, Xiaoyan (with Wang, Tao) and Zheng, Limin (with Ye, Keying and their daughter Carolyn) gathered together for our 10th year roommate reunion. Boy, we had fun!

We planed for this special occasion almost half a year ago. After lots of discussion and negotiation, we decided to go to Las Vegas, where we could probably make some money without actually working for any bosses. Our dear He, Yongjie made all the hotel reservation for us for quite good prices (of course we were demanded to pay her but we didn't care because we thought we would get the money back from the Casinos). With our families, we flew or drove thousands of miles from all over the country to the windy and dry city. There we met, for the first time in ten years after graduation. There we met, in great happiness that was impossible to describe in words. We couldn't resist the nice food at Las Vegas and fed ourselves a lot. To be honest, how could one say no to the crabs, lobsters, shrimps, beef, lamb, and more and more?! How could one be blind to the finest American food, French food, Japanese food, Spanish food, and most importantly, Chinese food?! To keep our weight down we talked and laughed days and nights, restlessly. We remembered the good old days in USTC, filled up the gap in the last 10 years, and foresaw what would be like in the next 5, 10, and 20 years. We exchanged idea about family, friends, romance, jobs, money, health, and etc.. We had a chance to know everyone's hubby and were glad to see that our youngsters are growing healthily and happily. It was certainly a wonderful experience for the Thanksgiving holiday - we felt we were a big family.

Three days passed quickly. It was difficult to say good-bye to each other. But we have decided that next reunion would not take us another 10 years. Aren't we going to cruise the Caribbean next time? By the way, did we ever make money in Vegas? --- We were so busy talking for three days that we forgot to do so!
